The Mansions of the Stars - 22 Ayats - makkah

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

وَٱلسَّمَآءِBy the sky ذَاتِcontaining ٱلْبُرُوجِthe constellations١

By the sky with its towering constellations,

وَٱلْيَوْمِAnd the Day ٱلْمَوْعُودِPromised٢

by the promised Day,

وَشَاهِدٍۢAnd (the) witness وَمَشْهُودٍۢand what is witnessed٣

by the Witness and that which is witnessed,

قُتِلَDestroyed were أَصْحَـٰبُ(the) companions ٱلْأُخْدُودِ(of) the pit٤

damned were the makers of the trench,

ٱلنَّارِ(Of) the fire ذَاتِfull ٱلْوَقُودِ(of) the fuel٥

the makers of the fuel-stoked fire!

إِذْWhen هُمْthey عَلَيْهَاby it قُعُودٌۭ(were) sitting٦

They sat down

وَهُمْAnd they عَلَىٰover مَاwhat يَفْعَلُونَthey were doing بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَto the believers شُهُودٌۭwitnesses٧

to watch what they were doing to the believers.

وَمَاAnd not نَقَمُوا۟they resented مِنْهُمْ[of] them إِلَّآexcept أَنthat يُؤْمِنُوا۟they believed بِٱللَّهِin Allah ٱلْعَزِيزِthe All-Mighty ٱلْحَمِيدِthe Praiseworthy٨

Their only grievance against them was their faith in God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy,

ٱلَّذِىThe One Who لَهُۥfor Him مُلْكُ(is) the dominion ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚand the earth وَٱللَّهُand Allah عَلَىٰon كُلِّevery شَىْءٍۢthing شَهِيدٌ(is) a Witness٩

to whom all control over the heavens and earth belongs: God is witness over all things.

إِنَّIndeed ٱلَّذِينَthose who فَتَنُوا۟persecuted ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believing men وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِand the believing women ثُمَّthen لَمْnot يَتُوبُوا۟they repented فَلَهُمْthen for them عَذَابُ(is the) punishment جَهَنَّمَ(of) Hell وَلَهُمْand for them عَذَابُ(is the) punishment ٱلْحَرِيقِ(of) the Burning Fire١٠

For those who persecute believing men and women, and do not repent afterwards, there will be the torment of Hell and burning.

إِنَّIndeed ٱلَّذِينَthose who ءَامَنُوا۟believe وَعَمِلُوا۟and do ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِthe righteous deeds لَهُمْfor them جَنَّـٰتٌۭ(will be) Gardens تَجْرِىflow مِنfrom تَحْتِهَاunderneath it ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚthe rivers ذَٰلِكَThat ٱلْفَوْزُ(is) the success ٱلْكَبِيرُthe great١١

But for those who believe and do good deeds there will be Gardens graced with flowing streams: that is the great triumph.

إِنَّIndeed بَطْشَ(the) Grip رَبِّكَ(of) your Lord لَشَدِيدٌ(is) surely strong١٢

[Prophet], your Lord’s punishment is truly stern––

إِنَّهُۥIndeed He هُوَHe يُبْدِئُoriginates وَيُعِيدُand repeats١٣

it is He who brings people to life, and will restore them to life again––

وَهُوَAnd He ٱلْغَفُورُ(is) the Oft-Forgiving ٱلْوَدُودُthe Most Loving١٤

and He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Loving.

ذُوOwner (of)ٱلْعَرْشِthe Throne ٱلْمَجِيدُthe Glorious١٥

The Glorious Lord of the Throne,

فَعَّالٌۭDoer لِّمَاof what يُرِيدُHe intends١٦

He does whatever He will.

هَلْHas أَتَىٰكَcome to you حَدِيثُ(the) story ٱلْجُنُودِ(of) the hosts١٧

Have you [not] heard the stories of the forces

فِرْعَوْنَFiraun وَثَمُودَand Thamud١٨

of Pharaoh and Thamud?

بَلِNay ٱلَّذِينَThose who كَفَرُوا۟disbelieve فِى(are) in تَكْذِيبٍۢdenial١٩

Yet still the disbelievers persist in denial.

وَٱللَّهُBut Allah مِنfrom وَرَآئِهِمbehind them مُّحِيطٌۢencompasses٢٠

God surrounds them all.

بَلْNay هُوَIt قُرْءَانٌۭ(is) a Quran مَّجِيدٌۭGlorious٢١

This is truly a glorious Quran

فِىIn لَوْحٍۢa Tablet مَّحْفُوظٍۭGuarded٢٢

[written] on a preserved Tablet.
